So I was reading an article a couple days ago, and it was about an electrolyte drink. It's called watermelon juice and it's simple to make. According to the article, it's better than most buyable electrolyte drinks. Simply cut up watermelon, probably with no seeds, and put it in a blender. Squeeze a lemon into it and add a little salt. Blend it all up and there you go. I'm sure you could do without the salt if you didn't want that.

I finally dealt with my PTSD back in the early 80s when I returned to college in my mid-30s. I was cruising along just fine until one of the young guys I had made friends with found out I was a Vietnam vet. From that point on, I was something of a minor celebrity among my circle of acquaintances and they were full of questions. That triggered things I had run away from during the 70s and I almost dropped out of school. However, a few good people helped me to get my head back on right and I moved on to graduate, secure gainful employment, and raise a family. But, it is weird how some trivial things will drag one back from age 75 to age 19. But even so, there are no more dreams...

Gift is good for flavor and low sugar, low calorie, no dyes, no artificial colors or flavors. It comes in a variety of flavors.

I recently discovered a flavored packet that yields something like Pedialyte from CVS. Also now Gatorade has come out with an electrolyte drink that isn't full of artificial flavor and color. Don't know if your grocery has Smart Water but it tastes just like regular water and has lytes in it. I found it also at Sprouts.

I am with you on the high sugar sports drinks, but have used them in the summer. Am glad I have a choice now.

Part of what makes electrolytes work is the combination of sodium/potassium, which acts like a pump to bring nutrients across your cell membranes. Not sure if eliminating sodium would work at all!

I have a problem drinking water because it tastes gross to me. Although a little pricey, I can drink Smart Water. It really is the only water I can drink. It tastes fantastic; they add electrolytes.

Powerade Zero (Mixed Berry). I have dehydration issues from both my ileostomy and the fact that I'm elderly. After lots of trial and error, I have found that Powerade does the trick for me.

I use Powerade Zero as well. Living in Florida with the extreme heat and humidity, I use a product called H2ORS. Check it out.
