Guess I spoke too soon.  After using the new pouch for a couple of weeks I ran into some issues...rash, discomfort, and a leak.  Although I really liked the pouch...it did not like me so we had to part ways.  Let it be known I am still highly impressed by this Hollister product and I do believe these issues may have been caused by my incessant need to add water and rinse each time after emptying the pouch.  I had to switch back to my Convatec 22771 and my issues were resolved...now if they'd just get a better out spout and some crinkle free plastic .....

I've wondered how many people rinse their pouch. I rinse and add soap every time, myself.

Glad you have resolved the issues you encountered. I'm here with a fairly new Colostomy and have been very fortunate to have a great army of stoma nurses both in the hospital and at home. Every single one of them, without me asking, told me that no matter how badly I want to rinse out my pouch after emptying it, don't do it. I've been taught it can contribute to loosening and leaks where my pouch is snapped onto the flange (two part system). Studies have apparently revealed this issue to be real. They did show me how to take a small bit of water to rinse out the opening at the bottom following a clean out of the bag. So I rinse out that part of the Hollister bag that folds up to close before I do the folding and closing. I'd love to rinse out the bag all the way to the top by my stoma but don't.

I am wondering if the two part system has separate issues when it comes to rinsing?  I just have the system that applies directly to my skin and only use stoma powder and a barrier wipe around the opening.  Since going back to this method I have not had an issue and I rinse several times a day....just me tho, difficult for me to view and not rinse this dang thing.  I only use water unlike my buddy who adds some soap for a "royal flush"....
