Finding the Right Jeans with a Waistline Ostomy

I am in my mid-60s, had to have a permanent colostomy 4 years ago, and asked my surgeon to keep it away from my waist-belt line if at all possible - well, of course, it's positioned right on my belt line - ugh! Needless to say, like many of us, finding pants that work can be a bear, and the fact that I am 6' 7" tall doesn't make it any easier.

The first product I found that helps immensely is the STOMA DOME stoma guard. While I don't need it with athletic wear/lounge pants, it's a lifesaver when wearing regular slacks and jeans.

Then about 3 months ago, I tried something I have never tried before - stretch jeans. After a lifetime of good old cotton denim, Levi's and Lee jeans, I always looked at stretch jeans as something women wore, as they like to show off their curves, etc. I can assure you, no one wants to see my curves!

Well, I saw an ad for jeans that really caught my eye; it was for THE PERFECT JEAN COMPANY. Now, this ad was not aimed at someone my age or with my particular needs, but I thought to myself that this might work - and even better - they had my size available, not something that happens very often. I just hoped they looked like jeans, not some synthetic, ugly pants described as jeans.

Well, these jeans have been a godsend. Great choice of colors, a bit on the 'high-waisted' side (perfect indeed!), good looking, and free returns allowing you to dial in to your body without added expense. These jeans stretch even more than I thought they would, and I love them. I just donated every old pair of jeans I have and couldn't be happier!

I have also tried .511 Tactical jeans and while they were certainly better than regular cotton jeans, The Perfect Jean Co. jeans are a huge step up... Hope some of you find this helpful...

Thanks for this post - I will definitely look into this company/jeans. I have several pairs of stretch jeans and cropped pants that I love, and even the very tight leggings - and the long tops that cover a multitude of sins! 🤣. I am fearful that these garments will become yesterday's fashion and difficult to find. Already seeing baggy pants and bell bottoms on the racks... ugh.

Stretch material works well to help support my parastomal hernia. The hernia belts are a pain in my bellyass! 🥹
