This is a neat trick list to assist others with.
Please share something cool and like "Wow" that greatly assists your life with an otosmy.
For instance if one is using paste (no sting paste better) and have leak burns and difficulty getting the paste to attach. Is to use antibacterial liquid soap (only) in the shower. Nothing else and dry off. Then use a blow dryer to get the skin very dry to the touch. (If output gets on the skin or too much effort, head back into the shower to wash, rinse and wait it out.) Then put on a thin pre-coat of paste using a flat coffee stir stick etc. to press it on. If it holds you can smear it down and off the stick. If it doesn't hold then you'll know right away. Remove and discard as it's ruined. Dry and try again.
Once a thin coat successful around stoma, then add a bit more on top to marry to the wafer. No wasting rings or wafers etc on something that's going to leak anyway. Remember that paste needs to be as wide as the flat part of the wafer, similar to a ring, or it won't hold very well and leak or detach.
Leak burns hurt a lot? Stop drinking coffee. In fact even tea causes the bag to fill up with liquid, but the leaks don't burn as bad as coffee. If a good bag on in the morning, then perhaps a cup of tea. This way it has all day to get out of your system before bedtime.
Another neat trick is to use just a few drops of the antibacterial dish soap in ones bag followed by water to wash while on the toilet, then rinse twice. Left over soap residue usually takes care of future odors..
Trouble bending or sitting? Feel stress on the wafer like it's coming off? Leaks? Well you can weaken the wafer before applying so it's a bit more flexible when you sit or bend to get up. I really work it so it's pliable as I have a belly fold right there.
So please post your tips as I would like to learn as well. 😊
