Hi, I’m new to the forum and looking for any advice regarding rectal mucus following an end colostomy.

Pretty much a common issue and seems to taper off... In the beginning, it was pretty active...

I've gotten used to it, but this weekend it had some streaks of blood in it that have worried me a bit. I was hoping someone might be able to advise if it's considered "normal" or not.

I mostly get the rectal mucus at night when sleeping. I put a gauze between my butt cheeks before I go to bed.

I usually get it only about every 10 days or so, but I haven't had any for 3 weeks, except for the liquid mucus with some blood streaks that I had on Saturday, so I'm a bit freaked out about it.

When mucus gets stuck up there for too long, it will harden and it's harder to get out, be a DIY color, and depending on how hard the mucus got, pushing could be why you had some blood. Was it a lot or was it just when you wiped?

It was just when I wiped. Usually I get a firm sticky piece of mucus but when I wiped it was just liquid with streaks of watery blood in it.
