Hi all,

Last Wednesday, I began my first experience with Norovirus with an ostomy. I have zero colon bits, and it was a whole new level of hell. I had at least ten full bags of water come out of me, plus vomit, and that was day 1 alone. It's day four, and my bags are sticky even though I've started eating; I still seem to be dehydrated.

I thought with no colon I'd be good to work in a couple of days. My fatigue is unbelievable!

Why am I still so tired? Thoughts?

Yikes 😳

Do you use open ended pouches?

I'm rather new to them and they're nice to have in this case.

Last week I was prepping for my 3rd colonoscopy. I added Gatorade to the GoLytery.  This was the least stressful prep I've ever had!

Stay hydrated and replace your electrolytes!

I.B.D. in general, active or not, will knock the snot out of you. Meds for IBD, also, the virus is a total "wiped out" feeling. I hope this is a temporary situation for you.

Sit tight. Others will chime in.

Welcome back, luv. 👋

Hi, I had the flu a month ago, so I can sympathize with the bag filling up many times. I forced myself to drink. I ate jello and soup. It took a couple of weeks to get my strength back. Hope you will get to feeling better really soon.

The stomach bug is the worst. I think I would rather have the flu. I have had my ileostomy for 28 years and normally a stomach bug lasts 24 hours, but not for us. Usually, it takes me 72 hours to get back to somewhat normal. It takes a lot out of you; just make sure to hydrate. Unfortunately, I had to go to the hospital a couple of times to get fluids. Hope you feel better soon.

The body is in defensive mode and ejecting as much fuel as it can to defeat the virus. This unfortunately means a lot of water too.

Why you're dehydrated and tired.

When your body is dumping a lot of water, you could be losing electrolytes, so you should at least drink that and perhaps something small and nutritious that will stay down and not come out either end.

A good multivitamin as well.

You may need to visit the hospital or a doctor if the situation gets any worse.
