Hi all,

I have had my ileostomy for 3 1/2 years and for the past year its condition has been deterioriating (i have crohns disease). It is 'collapsing' apparently. I know i have crohns disease in/around that area. When stuff comes out of it (in two places!!) its mostly noisy and uncomfortable. There is a patch of darkness right in the centre of it. I have been seen by my stoma therapist numerous times and have yet to be referred to a surgeon at all.

Just now, i was changing my bag and at the top part of the intestine - I watched it flush from pink, to really creamy white pale, back to pink again. I'm freaking out a lot, what should i do?? should i call my stoma therapist tomorrow??? Has this happened to anyone?

Sounds like you may be having a blockage of some kind.  Have you tried drinking lots of fluids, massaging belly and area right around stoma?  Also can try laying in bed and pulling legs in towards your chest.  Cup of hot tea?

Hi Sam,  It sounds like you could have a blockage.  I had my first one a few months ago and it wasn't much fun.  Drink hot tea or coffee or even hot water and massage around the stoma.  Is your stoma larger then usual?  If so it is more then likely a blockage. If you can't relieve it go seek medical attention.  Once mine let loose it filled the pouch in no time.  Good luck.  Penguins7
