Hello all.....We are in our first year...my wife had an illeostomy in Jan. 2016. The only thing we are wanting to change is the length of the bag. We now use a Hollister bag 18403 with a Hollister wafer 14603. They both are great and snap tightly together. The only problem is that the bag is 9 1/2" long and it goes under her breif at the leg bend and gets creased and stops the drainage into the collection bag. I have to reach up and pull it down and un-kink it to drain. What I'm looking for is a smaller bag that fits completely under the breif and nothing goes down further than the bend but the tube going to the drain bag. Anyone else deal with this, or know of a smaller bag to use?  Thanks lots!    Mark Scherer

i would suggest you call hollister directly and ask them what they have available, then ask for a few samples of everything to try out. you can google "hollister ostomy" to get their contact info

Hi Mark,

I have been using the Hollister Bag 18403 for years because smaller sizes would fill quickly and sometimes lead to an interrupted night's sleep. The tap for drainage is very convenient since my output is liquid. The 9.5 inch length was problematic, however, since the tap could show below my summer shorts forcing me to wear long pants. I resolved this with a simple rubber band. It effectively shortened the bag but not its capacity. See the photo. I have always worn the bag over my low-rise briefs to minimize any pressure on it. Good luck in finding what your wife needs.

Hello, thank you for posting your question about a smaller pouch.  I too wanted to utilize a smaller/shorter pouch because it looked better in my opinion but with the short pouch, I was forced to empty more often.  What I do today is use a longer pouch and slant it on a angle against my stomach.  My stoma is situated on the right side so I position my pouch on a angle toward the left.  With the longer pouch, I am able to sleep most of the night and empty it less throughout the day.  My shorter pouch, although more desirable, caused problems for me.  The filter would clog causing odor and the pouch would balloon almost all of the time. Hope this helps. Take care and thank you for posting. LH
