Will have a reversal this month after six months of being '''on the bag'' for six months . Looking forward to it but also nervous about after-effects. Encouragement is needed! How about success stories?

Bagface,

Below is the most recent post I found in the forums about reversal.  You didn't specify if you had an ileostomy or colostomy but if you do a search in the forums, you'll find several posts on the subject.  Good luck!

First off, this is a pretty cool site with 37,000 members who truly understand you.

It's not all about ostomy. We talk about everything.

Many come here for advice or to give advice, others have found good friends, and some have even found love. Most importantly, people here are honest and genuinely care.

Hello Bagface. Thanks for your post. My impression of a site like this, is that it attracts people like you, who have a problem to share and want some support. This fulfills a 'need' and when that need is satisfied, many of them just drift away because they no longer need the support. The problem with this appraoch, is that when someone asks a question like yours - about success stories, then there are very few ex-ostomates still attending the site and available to reply, as they no are no longer seeking support.

I am confident that there will have been many reversal successes, but the way to confirm my feeling would be to explore the medical statistics on the subject. These are available in medical journals and on the internet. Unfortunately, what they do not do is to give us personal accounts of how people felt after their reversals.

We seem to have become accustomed to having our products and services rated by participants on a score of 0-5 along with an encouragement for them to give personal comments. Perhaps this approach should be encouraged in the medical field so that we could have a customer focussed perspective, rather than either nothing or a sanitised clinical, quasi-scientific research approach.

Bain's contribution would be usful to follow up and I wish you well with your search and with your operation.

Best wishes

Bill
