Hi everyone, I'm just seeking some information from anyone in Ireland that may have had an ileostomy reversal due to ulcerative colitis. I had my large intestine removed 5 years ago as a result of colitis, and I'm thinking of going for the reversal. So if anyone has gone through with this operation, I'd love to hear from you and how life is after the operation. Thanks.

Hi. I am currently with a temporary ostomy. Due to radiation, I got a rectovaginal fistula. Now I am in the hospital because of heavy bleeding and severe pain. Doctors don't explain a lot. Started with HBOT as the first step for healing. Does anyone have experience with this? Did HBOT help? I am afraid that the pain is going to stay. It is unbearable.

Please advise
I have had my colostomy for over 20 years. Lately, my output is erratic and watery. Sometimes I don't have output for a couple of days, and other times I have multiple outputs during the day. I would like to have, as much as possible, a more predictable output.
My question is, should I take a fiber supplement or change my eating habits (which I don't want to)? I enjoy most foods. ...

Hi Ostomy mates,
I work as a public school bus driver. A few times as I drive the bus, I've smelled poo! Ugh, kids have made comments like "What's that smell?" but they didn't know it was me, the driver.
The only way I can think of to cure the problem is just not ever eat?
Can you all please help me with ideas or resources? Thanks in advance.

MY STOMA’S JUST A MINOR SORE.

My stoma’s just a minor sore
compared to people waging war,
for war will keep me up at night
because I feel it is not right.

I tend to my ablutions and
feel that I can understand
how frustration can arise
from this type of enterprise.

My stoma has some moments when
I find it irritates and then
I have to contemplate my lot
to see exactly what I’ve got. ...

I need to use stoma paste as the rings don't hold the leaks. Can you use paste alone or do you need to use skin prep wipe on the skin before putting down the paste on the flange? The reason I ask is that I read somewhere that use of skin prep will keep the flange from sticking over time? Is this true?

I have an ileostomy due to cancer and need a stem cell transplant. I am wondering if anyone here underwent a stem cell transplant with their ileostomy and how it went? Given that the SCT will reduce my immune system, am I at more risk for abdominal infections having a giant open sore and my guts hanging out? I will also be asking my doctor. Thanks in advance.

I am 73 years old and an ostomate with an ileostomy about a year ago. I have to empty my bag 6 times a day.
When you are out in public, how do you empty your bag? I can't kneel and I certainly can't straddle the toilet backwards! I pretty much stay home because I don't know what to do. I still have leaks at least once or twice a week. I have zero confidence in going out anywhere.
