Has anyone ever used products from Costa Medical. If so what had been your experience? Mine was not so good, but I am interested in trying the barrier you use under the wafer.

I use a convex ring by Hollister on a flat wafer. The ring swells quite a bit, and my stoma since I had my prolapse and hernia repaired is now small, and goes down inside the ring which swells so much. It keeps the leaking out, and my skin looks good, but the first day or do after a new wafer itches. Seems strange that should happen with a new clean change.

Any ideas and/ or suggestions

Thanks to everyone,

Elaine

have you tried a wipe on skin prep under everything ?  possibly your itch is just a reaction to the ring or barrier. you might request samples of a simular product from a different maker, regards mmsh

Have you talked to Holister about the problem? They are good about sending you samples to try. So are the other compainies. Hope you get some relief soon. Best wishes and stay safe

I had similar issues, and I found that all the major manufacturers are pretty good at sending sample products. Just call them.

My info is old, but most barrier rings used to have alcohol in them. I switched to Eakins seals, plant based, and did great. Eventually I stopped using any preps or removers. Now it's just water or whatever shampoo rinses over the skin. My skin is much happier with just a convex wafer. And it stays on longer, too.

I'd start by getting a bunch of samples from different brands to see what works best for you.  Good luck!
