Hi everyone, I had my bladder and prostate removed exactly two years ago and subsequently developed two hernias (incisional) which have got bigger over time. I have never managed to have my urostomy bag inside my trousers as the waistline pinches on the bag when I bend or sit down, causing the bag to come unstuck and a leak. After much searching I found a belt with a pouch for the bag and the pouch remains outside my waistbands  which has been more successful (but not foolproof). I have recently purchased supportex hernia support pants with a very high waist to cover the hernias and also a hernia belt,  but both of the items whilst supporting the hernias, squeeze the bag and cause leaks. Can anyone who has the same condition, give me advise on how to support the hernias and avoid leaks? I will be eternally grateful if you can help solve my problem.

Best wishes to you all,

Andy

Hello Andy,

I have an ileostomy, so I can't offer you any helpful advice. I really think that you should discuss this issue with your original surgeon.

He may suggest moving your stoma to a more convenient place.

I had my Cleveland Clinic surgeon move my stoma up an inch so it doesn"t interfere with my belt line.

This surger was rather simple and quick.

Best wishes to you.

Thank you Mike, I will ask him in December when I have my next appointment. I have always thought my stoma is in the wrong position.

best wishes, Andy

You"re more than welcome Andy. Please feel free to write back / stay in touch anytime..

P.S. One of my long time wishes is to visit Australia. I think it is a beautiful country. I know it probably will

never happen, however.  My colon surgeon, now deceased,  was a native of Australia and served as Chief of Colon Surgery at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio,

very near my home. Sincerely, Mike
