Hi, I had a flexi sig today, with a view to reversal. I've had an ileostomy for 3 years now, due to bowel cancer. However, after the sig, the consultant showed me that I have diverticulitis, and there are quite a few diverticula. This actually explains the recent pain and bloating I've had.

I'm still undecided as to whether to go ahead with the reversal; surgery scares the absolute bejaysus out of me. I know folk have had stomas due to diverticulitis. I would hate to go through a reversal and then find I need another stoma down the line.

Any views from people who are or have been in the same boat would be very welcome.

Thanks, Noreen

I have more questions than answers.

Is your cancer under control and no longer present?

How much colon do you have left? Was the ileostomy done for perforation or obstruction?
