Is it  like a moat all around the stoma??

If yes it's quite common, you shouldn't need any surgery it will heal by itself, but it's  very BLEEP painful. Mine took about 6 weeks to heal. Some nurse's used to pack it with sorbsan, I don't think it helped.

the moat around my stoma came from useing to much adapt paste around my wafer and it pushed the skin in to form a moat. Then the crap seeped down inside and burned the skin. Now I just put a fine bit of paste on the bottom of the wafer at 5-6-7 oclock where the crap drops down into the bag.The moat is gone and no rash.nice.
