Oh, I do so hope it is true! Hellish at the time, but eventually those sort of stories get a good laugh going which is what we all need! Take care out there, Rachel xx

It is partly true. I'll let you guess which parts aren't. The bag does cause a few mischiefs. The main problem I'm having (apart from the fact that it doesn't work) is the noises it makes.

John, that is hilarious whether totally true or not. We all know as ostomates that this could happen to any one of us at any time, love the way you dealt with it!

Also meant to add that noises are a real problem. I find my bag quacks loudly after meals. I use gel capsules to keep the output solid (which helps) and try to eat little and often, avoid gassy drinks, and when in a very quiet environment, can often predict by sensation in the ileum, place a hand over it, and keep the conversation going! This does work but takes some practice.
Getting to know your stoma's pattern of behavior helps; that's not easy, so otherwise, I say 'excuse me,' smile, and keep talking! Others are then unsure what they heard, if anything!

Love the story!

I really hope the story is true, but even if not, it makes for a good yarn even if you are bending the truth a tad, lol!
As for the "noises," if there is a human being on earth (bowel intact or otherwise) who doesn't fart, I would be quite surprised! I think "we" notice it more than anyone else, particularly when it decides to perform when all is quiet. It has happened to me many a time in a meeting/quiet room, and no one has batted an eyelid or ever mentioned it, although perhaps they are just being polite! Not to worry, let 'em rip and be loud, proud, and happy to be here!
Cheers!

ROFL, good story!!!!.... My stoma's name is Herman and he likes to talk a lot. So when he starts up, I just look at the person next to me and raise an eyebrow.

Hey!!! :) I'm Ria's daughter. I was chatting with you earlier today. My computer went spastic, so I didn't get to say bye :). Living with my mum and her condition this past year really makes me appreciate everything I have. :) I read your little story and just wanted to say how brave you must be to deal with all that, and I will never complain about any stupid little problems in my life because nothing could be as scary as going through anything like that. Stay strong and thanks for the chat :)
