Good evening everyone.   Doing more looking into Coloplast pouches last night and found out they have a specific pouch for ileostomies. They have it in both Flex fit and click.  PN 12243 and 11443 and a couple others.

It apparently has a Narrower output drain and a filter specifically for ileostomies.  I have samples coming to try out.  Anybody ever try these or heard of them before? First time I heard about these.

Thanks

I tried them, I just do not like the self adhesive closing system on any pouches. I have a high output ileostomy and found pouches with the "velcro" type closure system difficult to empty - not meaning to be graphic, the volume of the output, the length of the pouch and trying to get the closure system out of the way was just a nightmare for me.  I like to empty the pouch while sitting on the toilet so perhaps this impacted my experience.

How did the filter work?  I am basically using the same bag but it looks like the output drain is narrower on these ones and the filter is supposed to be different

I use coloplast sensura mio. And I like the Velcro closure. I also like that it's hard plastic when you go to empty and you flip part of it over when you go to close the bag so it covers the opening before you roll and then Velcro it. They have ones with and without filter. I use without filter. I don't like the filter on these bags

Thanks, Beth, but they make two different Sensura Mios, one specifically for ileostomies, which has a narrower drain and a different filter. I don't know what the difference is, but I ordered samples today.

I use the ileostomy ones; I have since day one of having my ileostomy. If the customer rep that sends out samples does their job right, they are supposed to send you the ostomy bags based on what type of ostomy you have. Lol, I am fully aware of the filter.

They have a Sensura line which is the tanish color and a Sensura Mio. The Sensura Mio are the grey bags.

Interesting,  every sample I asked for they didn't send out an ileostomy pouch.  Thanks for the reply.😁😁.

My learning curve is starting to get better.

I haven't got it yet, but PN is 12243.  Right now I am using a 12272

The Mio Click is revolutionary in my opinion. I have been using the 11472 pouch with the recent Adapt O Ring 8805 Hollister.

Today, after 9 days of wear time, I am impressed with the sealing. I replaced everything as per bag change.

Last month, I suffered from weeping skin around the stoma that cleared

up with medication: topical

nystatin.

I will look into your suggestion of this ileostomy appliance you say is new for us ileos.

The thing is, what works, you keep.

This setup, for me, works. Nine days is a record for any ileo. The Adapt ring showed a minor breach, but it really stuck to the skin and bag well.

You were doing something wrong with your empty. I know that volume is huge. You are dumping into the toilet, I assume. I dump into a container. It's much easier on the knees, and you can control the dump outpouring by tilting the container, not head-on.

Wow 9 days thats amazing.  Flat wafer or convex?

It doesn't look like these bags are new, I just found them in their catalogue.  You are using the 11472 pouch.  The ileo bag  is 11473.

Flat flange. Yes.

2 piece. My bag p/n is 11472.

The flange is p/n 6218513. I can't find the box. This number is off the invoice I have showing.

$235.20 4 belt hole flange.

I can't upload the bag box but placed the photo in my profile for you. Will delete after you see it. But that's the bag. The flange box is missing.

Yup, saw your picture.  Here is a pic of the Coloplast catalogue showing pouch pn's.  Like I said, I definitely don't know what the difference is with the ileo filter...

But I will find out when I finally get it

Cool photo. Yes, let us know what you find out. A bag made specifically for ileostomies? I don't know. Sounds like a sales pitch if it costs more.

To me, it's not the bag that counts, it's the sealing effort.

There is a perfect combination out there for fewer skin issues, better adhesion, more wear time.

Some members have that perfection. Others are hoping for it.

Time. Patience. Experiment.

This will achieve the goal.

This week... ha ha... I think I have the perfect combo... the sealing gods are watching over me.

Next week? Who knows?
