You guys! I did it! I have been able to keep the same bag for one whole sleep and all day today! No leak...yet. I hope tonight goes well too. Knock on wood for me.

Gray Logo for MeetAnOstoMate

MeetAnOstoMate is a pretty cool site with 40,015 members.

There are people here from all walks of life - musicians, firefighters, academics, artists, photographers, paramedics, police officers, teachers, mechanics, entrepreneurs, surfers ... and they all have a stoma.

The main thing is - here, everybody understands what you're going through. And that feels good.

Many come for advice, others stay for the friendships. Some have even found love!

And it's not all about ostomy - we talk about everything.

Definitely a confidence booster! Good on you. Just as an FYI…many on here will say you can get 5 to 7 days wear time…a word of caution though…as we will all say, everyone is different - in addition, we all use different products, so keep in mind “days of usage” is wide-ranged…many things depend on this range. I, for one, as a 4+ ileostomate, change my set-up every other day…this works well for me. Do not measure your usage by the suggestions of others. With time, you will fall into a routine that works well for you. jb

Congratulations, even if you get a leak, don't fret, assess and tweak. Finding a technique that works and you are comfortable with is an iterative process. You now know what to do in order to go leak-free for 1+ days. Set small goals, no different than potty training a baby 🤱 or puppy 🐶 — patience is the key.
