Update on my wayward rectal stump inflammation.

I developed bleeding from inflammation. Didn't have any other symptoms. Was somewhat unnerving pooping out small streams of blood four times a day.

Completed the final suppository two days ago. So far, so good. No unusual rectal stump activity.

I didn't suffer any side effects, but did notice my stoma slightly looked different (more pale) and had a darkened tinge on one side. Stoma continued to work just fine.

My medication was Mesalamine suppository, 1000 mg. I took a total of 30, one a day at night before bed.

That's awesome! One of the few moments where meds help.

They didn't help me down there with what you had... but then you never had bowel disease like me - Crohn's.

So now you wait, I guess?

30 days on the "pill" in the rear and see...

Keeping fingers crossed 🤞 for you, buddy. Thanks for the update.

I'm glad things worked out for you so well. I hope you continue to have good health and good results. Thanks for the update. Keep an eye on your stoma just to be sure. If it changes more or you have trouble with output, seek medical advice. But chances are it will be okay.

I grew up watching Coach Wooden coach the UCLA basketball team — he had many insightful words of wisdom. I had a big piece of cardboard on my bedroom wall on which I would write his quotes. I learned them by seeing them every day. 😊

Update: It's been a couple of weeks since I completed treatment.

A few days ago, I began expelling mucus. No pain or strain. Quite a bit came out. Usually 2 to 3 times a day. No leaks. No blood.

So... all is good.

That's great, Dan. You beat the odds..

I don't know how you do it—dealing with that mucus. It drove me nuts. I know the alternative for you isn't even a likelihood. Understood.

I just couldn't take it—the draining, leakage, smell, etc. anymore.. a mixed blessing for me since the stump developed Crohn's. So everything got removed and sewn up.

No regrets.

Glad the meds helped you out. 🥳

Rampant rectum stumpus update

Rectal stump still minding it's manners.  I'm getting a small, easy flow of mucus once, sometimes twice a day.  That medicine worked really well for me.  I'm surprised the mucus quickly returned, even much better than after surgery.  I'm hoping this will be my new normal.
