Hi.
I don't know where I am going with this, but reading some of the blogs, I feel like saying something. I am new at this, and so you will please bear with me.

I have had a colostomy for about fifteen years. I have gone through all the emotions that go with the transition of the body beautiful. It is hard, but it is a learning process and a time to be thankful for surviving a traumatic experience. Mine was cancer, and do I need to say more?

Life before was beautiful, and life after the incident is beautiful. So, I would say that your emotions are a reflection of your inner soul, and that is what you want to show the world. If you clean up that part of your life, it will be a beacon for those that you meet in the future, and if there is a ship coming to your port, make sure your beacon is shining its brightest. Thinking positive is the greatest gift you have for the world and also for that someone special.

You might say it might be easy for me to say because I probably didn't have the things happen to me. Well, let me tell you—divorce, loss of a normal income, the trauma that a bag can bring on such as smells, leaks, weird sounds, and all the rest.

I can only say, the operation is just a bump in the road of life, there is worse baggage that can be attached to you, so if that is the worst in your mind, consider the options.

Well, maybe I said enough.
Have a good day and make life richer by putting up your chin and saying "I can do it!"

Hi sourdough,

Well said. We do have so much to be thankful for. There is no doubt that this is one of my toughest life challenges. It has turned my life around in ways I could have never imagined. And I do think I am a better person for it {less a few parts}.

Thanks, sourdough, for sharing this positive outlook.

No Gutz,

I just saw your post today and I thank you for your comments. I have been traversing the internet looking for the many answers that a person with an ostomy looks for. I have found a credible amount of information out there. If you haven't already, I suggest you do, and the many questions regarding the life of an ostomy are out there. The more informed you are, the more at peace with yourself you will be.

I will again point out that this website was one of the first that I came to when I got my computer and was able to research information, and it feels like coming home to see the people that are still there and their interaction with each other is just great.

So have a good day and may you be at peace with the world!
