I have been diagnosed with several hernias behind my stoma.  The surgeon stated I was "too high risk" for surgery to correct the matter.  I have many questions and am wondering if any of you have any experiences to share.  Thanks for any information.

i recently had a hernia repair surgery. i let it go as long as possible till it started causing other problems, mainly it interfered with my irrigation process. the first 3 surgeons declined to operate on me since i had had chemo and radiation, and the stoma required moving to repair me. i would suggest that you see a colo/rectal specialist surgeon, as most hernias can be repaired.  be advised that you cannot strengthen the abdominal walls buy cutting them, so the repair will also require a life style change . in my case i had to drop a few pounds weight and could no longer do my profession as a mechanic, which required heavy lifting and pulling, akward positions, ect.

i was told nothing over 10 lbs for 6 months and nothing over 30 lbs ever, unless i wanted to go thru it again, which i do not..!!
