I had an illeostomy 12/21/91 and my stoma was about 1".  A few years ago it shrunk to 7/8 and now it is 3/4".

Is this normal?

Thanks.

Hello mcbrwn.

Thanks for your post and the clarity of your description.

What I have learned from visiting this site is that there is no such thing as 'normal'. However, there have been a number of posts in the past about people's stomas changing shape and size so I suppose one answer to you question would be that what you describe is not unexpected.

If it is not causing you problems, then it's not worth worrying abou.

Best wishes

Bill
