Hi I was diagnosed with chronic Gastroparesis 4 months ago but have had it for at least 2-4 years. I’ve just come out of the hospital due to severe complications and I can’t eat anymore. I’m living on special dietary drinks only and getting sicker day by day. I have an appointment with the top Gastroenterologist next week and will be having a tube put in to bypass my stomach to feed me due to severe malnutrition. Is there anyone on here that has this dreaded disease? If so how do you deal with having an ostomy with GP? Tia X 😕

I had a look on the internet and found that there are dieticians with expertise in gastroparesis.

This was the link          https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1954884/

Let me know if you want me to research whatever, to find dieticians with expertise in gastroparesis . . .

Hi Rosebudd44:  Have they ever put a pic line in your arm to feed you?  I had one in my arm 3 weeks, with no solid food.  Just saying.  Hope this is helpful,  Raydog.

Hi Raydog thanks for your reply. Yes I’m seeing my GI surgeon on Thursday to discuss a feeding tube and a pain pump. I’m living on Fortisip and ensure supplement drinks, 60ML 4 x day which is not enough to keep me going? I’m hardly tolerating liquids like cup o soups, icy poles and ginger tea. The sooner they start giving me some nutrition the better. I’m getting weaker by the day. Hope your doing okay and thanks again. ??'?X

hi, i dont know if you're still out here or not.. i have had a feeding tube placed directly into stomach.  i do not understand your feeding tube"bypassing" the stomach.  that doesnt sound right. are they just feeding the you directly into the intesting?   my understanding is  the tube bypassed the throat. this is where i had stricture. couldnt swallow.  so your story intesrests me on how u can get  nutrition  bypassing the stomach.. a central line not in the arm but high up in chest would be a better option for you for fluids. or meds..  an arm i.v. will blow out and you will end up with blackand blue marks.. so consider that central line.  good luck. i hope yur doing better now.
