Settling Into My New Apartment and Job Challenges

I wanted to update you all on my status. I have moved into my new apartment as of the first of June. It was a really difficult move, but I kept at it and finished all the unpacking by the 8th. I started my new part-time job as a Medical Escort for A + Healthcare. It has been difficult getting this job off the launching pad. They are somewhat communicatively challenged in regards to matching the schedule to what is actually happening, but in a few more weeks, it should settle down. I saw the Osteo nurse today and had him take a look at the raw areas around "New Maxine". We have deduced that because New Maxine is flush with my skin, more of the discharge hits the skin and irritates it. He changed a few supplies and found me a skin barrier called Medina Marathon No Sting Cyanoacrylate Skin Protectant, which will help the raw skin to heal. Hopefully, the VA will be able to obtain it for me. As for my estranged spouse, there has been no effort on his part to begin working on the issues he needs to correct in order to stay married.

Hello freedancer. Thanks for the update. It sounds as if you did the right thing to move on from a difficult relationship. As for the job- nearly all these firms seem to be communicatively challanged so I wouldn't expect that to improve in the near future. I hope Maxine Mark2 won't cause too many problems.

Best wishes

Bill

Hi Freedancer. Happy to hear that things are falling into place for you. I am sure it will continue as you have a great attitude. You must feel emotionally lighter without the constant negativity that your spouse brought into your life. He is most assuredly the loser here; he is just too self-involved to realize it. I hope Maxine 2 continues to improve; it sounds like you have a good stoma nurse. Take care and keep the updates coming.

All the best, Rosiesmom

Have you tried a convex wafer? My stoma is only about 1/4 inch above the skin from a previous resection. The convex does help; I'd prefer if the stoma protruded a little more. Regarding your husband, I read an article last year on how the divorce rate after women get sick is very high. It's hard for me to believe; my wife came down with brain cancer in 2014, I would have never deserted her, sadly she died in 2015.

Thank you John and yes, I use a convex wafer.  So sorry to hear about your wife.  Please have a good day OK?

My stoma was inverted. That was the reason I was reversed after 10 months. Not only was my skin always raw but my bags wouldn’t stick so I had to change sometimes 3 times a day. Pure misery. My surgeon worked on it initially and I went back in for stoma repair but no improvement. I tried “crystalling” but no help there either. Good luck in your new life. You’re doing great!

Thank you! I am actually doing quite well. Today at church, I was given knowledge through the sermon that the breakup of my marriage was not my fault. I learned that when a relationship goes bad, it is because one of the people is filled with pride and has an "I or me only" mentality and refuses to accept a "we" mentality. I came into my marriage with a "we," but he never lost the "only me." I feel so much better now because I thought it was all my fault. God made it so clear to me, and I am so grateful!

So happy to hear you have been relieved of the guilt that was never yours to begin with. As they say, "the good Lord never closes a door without opening a window." Good luck with your new freedom.
