I used to tell everyone. Then I stopped because sometimes coworkers or some friends see it as your main feature and talk to your stomach, looking for your bag.

I no longer tell anyone unless I feel they may see me naked. Dating many times is just casual encounters, just hanging out, dinner, movies. But if you meet that special someone, it's better to tell him or her if you think the relationship will progress to an intimate relationship. If someone asks you what the crackling noise is,

they keep hearing... tell them it is a candy wrapper in your pocket.

Typical low rent woman!

yeah they are every where especially where money is in the mix??

I wonder if you had won the lottery when you met her if you would be married by now & rinsed out in a year & divorced?

But you would of had a pre-nuptial in place if smart?? 😊😊😊

You can read as much as you like, but sometimes it helps to talk.

This is an independent community where over 40,000 people living with an ostomy connect and share. Musicians, firefighters, artists, teachers, travellers ... regular people from all walks of life, getting on with things.

When you join, you can let things out, speak freely, and know you won't be judged. Only members can see your profile. It's private, and safe.

Some come for support, some make friends, and a few even meet someone special. And it's not just about stomas - it's about real life, too.

If you've been here more than once, maybe it's time to be part of it. Joining is free - and it could make all the difference.

Personally, I would tell the person as soon as you feel comfortable. But if the person then isn't interested in you because of the stoma, you really wouldn't want to be with that person anyway. The stoma doesn't define you. Get on with your life, enjoy yourself, and don't worry about what people will think. The test is your friends didn't stop being your friends because of a stoma, so don't worry. I think honesty is the best policy and say as soon as possible. Then you will save yourself time and know sooner the type of person they are.
