I'm back. The Dermatologist called and says I have high ANA levels same as the GP Dr said in Sept the blood test she had taken showed! Dermatologist wants to talk to me at next appointment 2-24 about test results now they are saying possible Lupus?? Anyone out there who had ulcerative coilitis then an ileostomy end up with lupus??I'm not getting upset over this just trying to figure out what type Dr to go to??

Thanks

A rule of thumb I have, never listen to some people, cos some people think they know more than anyone else. I also know that some people have made others depressed by false information so pleads eb careful when hearing rumours. thanks you,,

P.S. I,m not swiping at anyone just see the need to be careful what you hear and believe.

Yes, I took accutane ...28 years ago and never had an issue except..no more acne.  Makes me crazy when they make accutane the bad guy drug for everything.  Also the minute I had gastro problems...and this includes post cancer...the docs started with the auto immune stuff:    Rheumatoid arthritis "Do your joints hurt?"  and Crohn's and U.C.  Auto immune stuff becomes a garbage pail diagnosis.  I even had the blood test done for UC/Crohon's..which was negative and they STILL said I had it.  "False positive,"  Good Luck.

In 18 years I have had 2 patients I recall that had lupus and ileostomies; the lupus present many years prior to the ileostomyand niether of them had UC.

I did google to see if there was a correclation since they are both autoimmune diseases; there are folks that have the both but the literature from experts seem to think it is a coincidence rather than being related.

For treatment of your lupus, you should be referred to a Rheumatologist.

Hope this helps...let us know how it goes.
