Dealing with Anal Leakage Years After Colostomy

Had a colostomy 5 years ago.  Just this week having anal leakage.

Yes, mucus is perfectly normal.  Your colon is still producing the lubricant it always did, even though its job is not needed anymore.

it could be that your anal muscles aren’t working as well as they used to.  if the output that’s leaking is different than your normal ( more blood, larger quantity, odor, change in color/consistency etc) you should have your dr check it.  in my case leakage was the first symptom that Crohn’s disease had found it’s way into my stump and I needed treatment to get it under control/reduce leaking.
