I just got out of the hospital from a huge surgery. I've had a colostomy since 2002 and after a time, was able to accept it and was basically problem-free for the most part. I could literally change it in my sleep. I had two surgeries prior to the latest where they messed around with my stoma, so I had several weeks of waiting for it to get to a normal state. So that's what I'm trying to do now, only it's waiting for TWO stomas. I am having a terrible time getting a seal on my appliances. While I'm working on one, it leaks over to the other one and then I have two appliances to deal with. It might not sound like it should be a big deal, but it's so stressful. It has broken so many times. I am frustrated beyond the limits of my medications!

You have way more time with a stoma than me, but when they messed around with your stomas, is there scar tissue there now? Your wafer/ring won't stick or won't stick well if it's on any scar.

There are a few other members on this site with urostomies and colostomies or ileostomies. They may have some tricks up their sleeves, and hopefully will read your post. I wish you the best of luck. It sounds like you have a lot to deal with.
