Hi, posting again.
Having a few issues with Stanley the stoma tonight.
Changed my bag this evening and had runny dark brown shiny output literally pour out for about 10 minutes before I managed to get a bag on.
Got a bag on 4 hours ago and since then I've had a very small amount of runny dark brown output which came out straight away and nothing since.
Had a wave of nausea and thought I was going to be sick but this went after some heaving.
Have ongoing abdominal ache in the top part sort of relieved by a hot water bottle.
Can't notice any change in eating which would have caused it. Any ideas?

I don't think it's anything serious but wondered if anyone has any ideas.
Have an ileostomy and had it for 11 months

Thank you

Bad Mexican food? My output changes consistency quite often from hard little chunks to what I'd describe as creamy peanut butter. I don't really watch what I eat to figure out what does what to me, but it does change.

Thank you!
Nope, no Mexican food.
Had a ham and cheese wrap and jacket potato yesterday. Then had toast this morning. So can't see any reason for it.
I've taken some extra loperamide to see if it thickens things up, but so far nothing has come out for a good few hours now.

If you took extra, that would explain having no output. Which, in turn, could cause discomfort because nothing is coming out now. Whenever I take loperamide (which hasn't been for a long time), my stool turns much darker.

Thank you. Hopefully, that's why it's stopped. I took the loperamide after the watery dark brown output so that isn't causing the color.

Thank you.

Maybe you had a partial blockage that resolved itself? Did your pain go away?

I think it could have been. I've woken up this morning to more in my bag, slightly lighter output and my stomach making so many noises so I think whatever it was has cleared

Sounds like a partial blockage that cleared itself. Stomach pain and nausea feeling like you're wanting to vomit and then your output coming out almost non-stop. Sounds like it broke loose. Do you remember what you had eaten before all of this? Did you drink a lot of liquid before this happened that increased the nausea?

Be careful if you had jacket potato and you eat the skin as some people do. It can cause a blockage.

Could be something you ate. I had a similar experience once after a slice of strawberry pie except for a reddish color and consistency like what it was when I ate it except without the nausea or pain. Or you may have a flu bug. My cancer doctor said Imodium is okay to use but stay hydrated.
