What the crap, for the past 2 days, the area around my stoma is on fire, it burns so bad, I can hardly stand it. This happened before and I got this stuff called Nystop or something like that. Well, it's not working! What else can I do? Talk about painful shit, literally!

Have you tried the stoma powder? Or what I do is, I have towels around me and I sit without my wafer on for a couple of hours a day until it's gone. I make sure I haven't eaten anything so I don't make a mess. Or if I do, well, I've got lots of hand towels next to me so they wash and so do I, so no biggie.

Are you using paste around the stoma? If so, you need to try the Hollister rings. They create a sleeve around the stoma when you change it, and protects the skin better. Under that, I always put some stoma powder around the edges of the stoma. It has healing powers I cannot explain. :-)

I feel ya, girl. Been having the same problem. The skin around my stoma is really red and painful. I started using Convatec Eakin seals. But before I put that on, I use a No Sting skin prep and powder. First, I start with the skin prep--then apply powder-- then repeat until I form a kind of "crust"--end with powder. THEN, I mold the Eakin seal to fit around my stoma and THEN I put on my flange / bag. I can get a good 5 day wear time and see a big difference in my skin. You can call Convatec and ask for samples. I'm sure the Hollister seals work the same, too (mentioned above)
Good luck!

I had to medicate the skin's protective barrier to put on my bag.
