Hello Everyone

My first entry: I have lived with a colostomy and an urostomy for over 45 years and have never seen an ostomy on another person. It sort of feels like I am the only person in the world with an ostomy.

Hi greggiegreg,

It's great that you're sharing your experiences here. Rest assured, you're definitely not alone, and you'll find plenty of support from this large community.

Having lived with a colostomy and a urostomy for so long, it's understandable to feel isolated at times. Many of us have felt the same way, but connecting with others who understand can make a big difference. This site is a great place to meet people who truly get it, and you might find it comforting to hear their stories and share your own.

With thousands of members here, you can use the search feature to find others who live nearby or are around your age. It might be helpful to connect with someone in person or have a chat with someone who shares similar experiences. You're definitely not alone in this journey!

Hi Greg, I am glad you posted! You are not alone. I have had my ile back again since September 2013. I had my first one in March 2009; that was hard for me then. I had to get mine because of cancer. I am in remission now, but I had complications in September after a colonoscopy. I am glad I have it now and can deal with it much better than before. Even my kids (ages 14 and 11) come and help me with it when I need help, or when they are checking on me to see if I need any help.

I have been looking after mine since I was a child. As a male, I find the older I get, the more I notice them. I try not to let my ostomies stop me from everyday life, but for the most part, I deal with them okay. Chat to you again.

You are not alone! We are everywhere! It's good when we can find support to counter the ignorance and rejection we sometimes face when we take the chance to reveal our condition to someone. No... I am not dying, or a female who used to be a man, untouchable (well, you know), or contagious!

I hear you there. I'm starting to see ostomies are all around. Have yet to meet a female with one though, lol. Anyway, have a good day, greggiegreg.
