COLOSTOMY.

For those of you who do not know,
colostomies divert the flow
of faeces from my normal bum
to an opening on my tum.

A stoma is the exit hole
where faeces come under control
by catching it in a ‘device’
which is a ‘bag’ to be precise.

So, emptying the bag can be
much more convenient for me
than having it shoot from my arse
which used to be more like a farce.

There was no way to manage that
when from my bum the shit went splat,
which caused me much embarrassment
and emotional harassment.

Eventually I saw the light
and I gave up that futile fight
and opted for a substitute
which took me down the stoma route.

It’s not without its problems though
as, at those times when I must ‘go’
the bag could be what let me down
and I would end up wet and brown.

But this began to irritate
so, I started to irrigate,
which basically flushes me through
so, I have nothing else to do.

Now I no longer need the bag
which, to be honest, was a drag.
I can feel free to live my life
with less stress from my stoma strife.

Hello Pup.
It's my thanks that should be going out to you (and anyone else) for reading and appreciating the rhyme. when I began writing verses on stomas, I never thought I could squeeze so much out of such a restricted subject. ( a bit like the thing itself!)
Best wishes
