I'm working myself up into major anxiety.
I'm having my reversal next Tuesday.
My Hartmann's Procedure was a nightmare.
I almost died several times.
Septic shock, pneumonia, anemia, congestive heart failure.
Guess I need positive feedback.

I understand your anxiety. I had a reversal 11 weeks ago, and the same as you, felt a mix of fear and anxiety before I went in.

Try to stay calm. I'm sure all will go well for you. This time you won't have the sepsis to deal with. It will be better all around.

I am very happy with my reversal. Stay positive and take care.

Bill.

You've survived severe illness and surgery. You have inner toughness from battling to regain your health. Most people never experience what ostomates go through. Soon all this will be a distant memory.

Hi all, it's totally understandable to have anxiety before surgery, but think of the outcome and no more ostomy and bag hanging on your side. Good luck.

You should be in better health for this operation. I would anticipate you should do much better. It is normal to be nervous before a procedure. Good luck.

As others have said, it is normal to have anxiety before surgery, especially since you had complications from surgery. Remember, you were sick before and now you aren't. Prayers for you.

Hello - I understand, as I went through a terrible medical ordeal with my Hartmann's emergency surgery as well. The colorectal doctors all assured me that the reversal will be nothing compared to what I have already endured, if that helps at all. Still, I know how you must be feeling. Best of luck :) I look forward to hearing about your experience with the reversal!

Try to stay positive and do not let negative thoughts take over in your head.
A well-known quote conveys this message about the futility of useless worry.
Stay in the present, only allowing positive thoughts in.

Today is the tomorrow I worried about yesterday and all is well! Hugs, JB

Have faith. You will do well. A positive attitude and painkillers will help with the healing before and after surgery. You are starting a new chapter in life. Smile.
