Hello, my ostomy friends!

Someone posted about buying a saline enema solution from Walgreens. The spout would fit perfectly on a bottle of 4 oz baby oil. I went to Walgreens yesterday and found both items! I forgot about it, though, when we were changing my bag last night. My boyfriend and I can really see how this may help, as all my poo last night piled up at the top of the bag whilst sleeping. Then I have to wait for it to all spill down when I am up and about.

My question is: Can someone provide more detailed instructions? I am concerned about putting the baby oil in and it affecting the adhesive around the stoma. I just want to make sure the next bag change that we do this correctly.

Many thanks, my friends!

Kim

Use 2-3 drops and rub them around thoroughly in the bag.

Interesting, that is what we did, but we put it through the flange. Then this morning, it developed a leak in the flange! What a mess that was when I got to the office! Should we be putting it in through the opening at the top before placing the bag? I did not use the baby oil today as the flange leak was crazy.

My husband carefully puts a couple of good squirts of Hollister Adapt lubricant/deodorant through the top opening after cutting to fit my stoma. He then rubs the bag to distribute the liquid. It doesn't seem to be a problem with adhesion as long as we try to keep the opening away from the lubed bag. Unfortunately, however, I've developed a large lopsided parastomal hernia that is causing all kinds of grief with leaks. We still use the lube, however. I'm not a paying member, so no PMs. I find it frustrating that I can't even do a basic search. But I'm trying to ferret out some help with different bag/ring options to deal with the hernia. I do have an ostomy nurse and had home health care nursing for a month... six months for the colostomy. One month for the parastomal hernia.
