Does Getting Your Period Impact Output?

I just got my period back after having the initial ileostomy surgery in September. I had minor spotting in November for a day, but I would only consider this month's cycle to be my first real one. My doctor told me this is normal after abdominal surgery to miss a few periods. I remember that before my surgery I would have to go to the bathroom more during that time of the month, and I noticed that this time around my output is thinner with the ileostomy. I'm having a little bit more trouble digesting food. More painful gas. I'm wondering if this is normal for women who have an ostomy who are still on their cycle? And for those who have had a reversal, do you find that your cycle is harder after the reversal? Is output thinner still? I've been approved for a reversal, but I'm going to wait until September until I feel stronger, so I just want to know so I can prepare. Thanks in advance, ladies, for any information.
