Consider Stocking Up on Ostomy Products... Because Here We Go Again... Maybe.

Howdy Gang,

Just a thought here... is everyone keeping up with current events? Depending on what you believe, want to believe, or don't believe... you may want to start stocking up on ostomy products. The video below explains why. The second link confirms what the video is saying and is from the AP... the world's trusted source for 'non-partisan' information. Ok... stop laughing now... let's just say half the world's most trusted source. Better?

Ok, so where it goes from here is anyone's guess, but like the video says... if it's not this one... there will be another in the not-too-distant future. And unless you want to be duct taping garbage bags to your stomach because you can't get supplies... you should at the very least keep informed, whether this pans out or not.

And if you're just too darn busy to watch the video... we're talking about Monkey Pox... which is now called MPox so people don't think it's only associated with animals. The WHO has just declared it a 'GLOBAL' health emergency. And you know what the next step is... and if you don't... it's "Pandemic". Brings back a lot of fun memories, doesn't it? But what it means is that all the countries who insanely signed the WHO International Pandemic Treaty will have to follow the WHO guidelines, which could include lockdowns, isolation, vaccine mandates, etc... and it's 2021 all over again. And since most people didn't learn anything from the first episode because they just wanted it over... they'll be making sequels.

I know... I know... it's all conspiracy theory. Maybe... unless it's not. But the WHO did just declare it to be the step before a Pandemic. You can't make this stuff up. Take from this what you will... or just plain ignore it. But either way, it's all on you... don't shoot the messenger. Although the Spartan King Leonidas did push the messenger into the bottomless pit in the movie '300'. Which just sets such a BAD example!!!

;O)

Hmm I wonder about the timing of this new epidemic.

Nice One Bob

;-I

Irrespective of 'belief' .... hoarding supplies would create higher demand/higher costs AND THUS SHORTAGES ... So the Ostomy supplies Marketeers will LOVE this one ;-I

As for users of such stuff - Most of Us - Maybe one should not mention the product deterioration of a hoarded shelf life.

Say what ....... Perhaps an alternative would be to lobby for prompt lockdown of all air travel out of and indeed into the African continent .... Global trading would be up in arms - No change there then.

WHO do make the point that the MP virus has a low rate of infection spread ? ? ?

Perhaps the Scientists and Medics among the Membership may care to extrapolate for the benefit of the rest of us?

PLEASE, pretty please - TY

Good news on the horizon though Bob…Trump has assured us it won’t reach our shores and if it does, simply down a banana & bleach smoothie!

Once every four years, we have an election and a pandemic. 🤔

My wife and I were talking about this yesterday, not monkeypox but the lockdowns, etc., and how lucky we were living where we do. We only had about 3 weeks of lockdown here, and we could still walk around the farm, go to empty beaches, and both continue working. But another pandemic would bring the whole world to its knees money-wise. Maybe that's what they want.

After the previous four years, does anyone believe the utter bullshit the WHO claims?

As part of the UN, itself one of the most corrupt international organizations in the world, the WHO shares its political basis. It is almost completely driven by politics rather than science.

"Don't do your own research!" 😅

I am in WA too and agree we were extremely fortunate. I am six months in from an ileostomy surgery. The gallbladder operation went wrong and resulted in a perforated bowel, which resulted in sepsis and 8 surgeries, and here I am. Still struggling with the stoma. However, I just wanted to say yes, I agree, compared to much of the world we were pretty lucky. Sometimes being so far from everything isn't a bad thing :-)

Hi J,

You're of course right... hoarding will create shortages. And I'll be thinking of you guys when you can't get your barriers and bags and my closet is full. Ok, just kidding... I always keep at least an 18-month supply of ostomy stuff, including all the other essentials like paper towels, Micropore tape, adhesive remover, etc., so I won't be contributing to the shortages... just onlooking.

Interesting thought about the shelf life of ostomy products. I have barriers and rings from 2014, when I first got my ostomy, that I check every once in a while. I haven't found any issues with adhesion or performance degradation at all, which makes me wonder about all those 'expiration' dates on our products. A way to keep product flowing maybe? I really don't know. I do keep my stuff in ideal conditions, so maybe the manufacturers are assuming everyone that buys their products won't be as careful. But for now, I'm calling BS on the expiration thing.

Too late for a travel lockdown. It's already been reported in 116 countries (as of yesterday) and counting. Maybe just stop having sex with monkeys? Besides, ostomates aren't THAT desperate, are they? Hmmm... judging from some of the posts on here... maybe I better rethink that... ;O)

I'll end by countering your "Folk are likely to be far less compliant the second time around" with what Winston Churchill said, which was “Those that fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it.” And I got a feeling there's a lot of non-learners out there that are going to be repeat customers... if you know what I mean.

Always great chatting with ya 'J'!!

Cheers!

yolandesss Yes, we were lucky. I know all too well about bowel perforation and sepsis, not a nice thing to have to deal with. Stay strong and wishing you well. Take care, Bill.

Bob,

KK, valid thing concerning expiry... most [not all] items do keep well [within clement climates/good storage conditions], and yes - suppliers will certainly follow up when one ceases to place regular orders :-)) so BS in part - but not over longer periods [which would pertain when using a hoarded supply I suspect - no knowledge of that one! lol.

And yes, indeed, some do not learn by experience - Here in rural UK, one went into C19 'lock down' way before the imposed travel restrictions and mandatory mask-wearing within the UK and elsewhere... common sense ruled [like good hygiene with mad cow disease dips for vehicles and human tyres/feet management [we were lucky - came within 8 miles of our stock!]... but you can't control the wildlife - human or non-human ;-()... in either situation!!

And yes, sadly you are ABSOLUTELY spot on... particularly with the run-up to Christmas and viruses and parties... no thought for others from the average - only wishing to 'enjoy'...! Interestingly, or not, there may be an endorsement re AI stats as to whether there were fewer seasonal deaths from the non-C19 viruses during mandatory mask-wearing...

As for closing borders... the horse has always bolted before the stable door is closed... Bureaucracy is very different from Churchill's style of administration... [not that I am old enough to speak from direct experience [had to add that one, 'from the ancients' ;-)]... Change is inevitable I guess ;-)... TG for small biplanes!

I am not of the conspiracy mindset - but, one does have to wonder when one witnesses world leaders and others in very intimate contact with an apparent disregard for any form of social distancing... [WTF - pardon the 'French']... Perhaps it was a valid 'dry-run' for the rest of us, hey? The medic's elbow to elbow was a sensible one though... for many British are still very much hand shakers - and many of us are huggers too... but with the concessions of faces over shoulders if you know what I mean. [It was weird 'elbowing' my most trusted Surgeon - when arm in arm also pertained... yet I was glad to drive many miles for the 'can-do-it' within private travel domain... for I tell ya, London Bridge - deserted at 7 am on a working day - regularly - was surreal [Pall Mall and Buck House etc. is chockablock with traffic, as a norm - for those unfamiliar with the heart of London [or WW-land]... but we all did what was 'responsible' to protect others - even when we were 'kept in the dark'... and so drove to isolate ourselves, particularly following hospital appts in the heart of lockdown - so as to protect our nearest and dearest! [Many medics did not return home during the 'thick of it'].]

I wonder what - if any - medic / HCA 'networking advice' safe social distancing is issued to health trusts within the Stockholm areas of recent days, hey?...

One such person known to me - on the ground working relatively locally - suggested in two words - BS. But the duty of care and good practice still rules ???

Wonder on, for most of us will never 'know' - for sure... 'Next time' [and there may well be one - these curves of inevitability are statistically well defined] - may be 'managed' slightly differently - particularly as AI is now, universally, 'in play'.

Thx for the interchange - [please forgive lazy key work and abon. spelling].
