What's tougher: Being an Angels fan or having a stoma ?

Woe is me. Angels slide into last place in the American League West. Big star Mike Trout has been on the IL nearly all season, and he isn't coming back. The game last night against the Astros was an error-filled torture, like poking pins in my eyes. In contrast, my stoma is behaving itself and committing no errors. Mrs. B wants to watch the game tonight at Marie Callendars. I'll have to soothe my ruffled feathers with a chicken pot pie followed by a chocolate satin slice of pie. Trout who?

Could be worse… could be a long suffering Cubs fan surrounded by Guardians fans (ya I have a picture lol) 😜

Here's your answer, my boy.  The good LA team.  Can you say:  6 for 6, 10 RBIs, 3 HRs, 50/50 +??!!!

Way back in the 90's the first baseball game I attended was at Anaheim stadium between the Texas Rangers and the "California" Angels (why did they change the name to the Los Angeles Angels - isn't that the Angels Angels?! 🤔)

Coming from a land where "boring as buggery" cricket is played it was definitely way more entertaining than that, but the entertainment came more from the aspect of people watching and how much food can be consumed during a sporting event, never seen a tray of nachos quite that large before! 🤣

I did enjoy the organ music and fireworks after a home run - it was then I knew I was definitely in the US of A (and I loved it)! 🇺🇸🦅

They lost again last night against the Astros. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. They now have 92 losses. It could be worse, I guess. I could be a White Sox fan.

The Angels started out so well too. The 1961 California Angels own the best record by an expansion team in its inaugural season at 70-91.

But this season, they resemble the fabled 1962 NY Mets. The Mets suffered 120 losses that season. The pitching staff turned in a 5.04 ERA, a mark no team would exceed over the following quarter-century. Their 210 errors are the most by any club in the Expansion Era (since 1961).

I visited Chicago. Went to Wrigley for a game of my hapless Angels against the Cubs. We were treated very well by Cubbie fans. Walked back to the city along the lake. Wonderful pizza and Chicago hot dogs. 😉

Me too. Saw our Cubbys beat the Padres at Petco. Nico went wild with HRs. How did I get upside down?

Where’d you get pizza and dogs from?

(If you’re from Chicago you know this matters 😂)

Last month, unfortunately in Cleveland and not at Wrigley, but it was where the Cubs won the series in 2016. 😁

I was told by our friend I couldn't wear Cubs anything, of course, I did. 😏

I've tried and tried to remain vigilant, but alas, every night they fail to come through for me.  What is a staunch fan to do?

Pizano's Pizza & Pasta.

Lou Malnati's Pizzeria

Pizzeria Uno

Had the deep dish and thin crust.  Yummy.

Had Chicago hotdogs at Wrigley stadium.  Also at a sidewalk vendor cart.  Both extremely yummy.

There's a place by me that serves Chicago style food.  They have authentic Chicago Hotdogs... even have French fries covering the top of the bun. 😉

I've also visited Fenway in Boston too. Other team fans are always nice to us at their parks.

At Fenway, a former Angel pitcher was going to start. When he was announced at the beginning of the game, we booed him mightily. A bunch of Red Sox fans turned around and said, "We hate him too!" Everyone laughed.

Opposing fans at Angel Stadium are not nice.

Cities like Chicago, Boston, Philly are filled with people at their games who not only love their team but they really love their cities and I think… that may carry over.

At least you have a team! My Oakland A's are only around for another week. I will be in Seattle to see the final game. The first game I remember going to was when Vida Blue was given his baby blue convertible Cadillac. I missed one Opening Day in 42 years due to a shingles vaccine. My latest "best memory" was meeting Jake Diekman who inspired me to push forward with getting an ileostomy. I caught up with him last time he was in town and got him to sign a ball for a buddy's son who is dealing with this at the tender age of 14. Losing my ball team vs having a stoma? Which is worse? My life with the stoma is so much better. There's not much of a comparison.

Take care and stay healthy,

SharkFan

Try being a Padres fan. They squeak into a wild card game and act like they made the World Series.

I went to the second to last Angels game of the season against the Texas Rangers. Angels were ahead by 4 runs at the top of the 8th inning. Then... the wheels came off. A series of walks, a batter hit by a pitch. A crazy throwing error... and Texas led 9 to 8.

All my Angel fan friends have a saying: Angels can never have a large enough lead that they won't blow. ⚾️😜🥎
