I found an extra way of feeling secure in oneself.

Get a bicycle inner tube and cut it with sharp scissors into thin rubber bands by cutting the tube.

You will find that these are an ideal size to place across the Velcro output end. You will now feel a bit more secure. I wish I could upload a picture to show how it should look.

It helped me; I would like to help others.

Looking at the picture, it looks as if the end of the closure is facing up. I might be wrong. The first pouches that I used by Hollister had closures facing up, and I was afraid something might catch on it and open it, but it never did. They discontinued that model, and the new ones had the closure facing down so that it would be hard for something to catch on it and open. You might want to look for a pouch with the closure facing down.

Coloplast Velcro tabs are on each side.

Plus one can roll the end up one more time to Velcro to the bag under a deflection shield.

If you use a belt, theirs has four hooks instead of two, much more secure and stable.

You shouldn't need to Mickey Mouse things.

I recall having to super glue Hollisters two piece click together into a one piece because it kept separating and leaking.

G-Day Gordon, Why don't you just use the IGGIE Clip like most of the other guys do, see photo. You can fold the bottom of the Hollister

bag as much as you want to be able to shorten your bag. I added a magnet to keep it closed after folding it over. Regards, IGGIE

Hi gordo,

I like it when people innovate... so good on you! For me... I've never had that closure not seal, so I'm not sure I'd need the rubber band. We talked about this not too long ago... it's not Velcro, but something similar yet different. It's called Lock N Roll... or something stupid like that... because it's NOT Velcro. Velcro sticks on contact, no pressure required. Lock N Roll needs you to press firmly to engage the hook and loops. If you just put one side over the other, it will not seal and will leak. But when you press firmly, you can feel one side move into the other... and you know it's sealed.

The only other issue with the inner tube solution is it's a separate piece... so I'd lose it sure as shit. Same for the Iggie clip... it would disappear on me. I no longer use the Lock N Roll because the bags are junk, but when I did, I never had an issue with positive closure. BUT... if the inner tube gives you peace of mind... and you don't lose things like I do... have at it! Glad you found a simple solution to a simple problem! Keep on innovating, as we can never have too much of that!

;O)

Hi Iggie. I'm not sure where I should add the magnet. I'm not very good at these kinds of things🤷‍♂️

It's inventive and a good tip for those who can't change to another brand for one reason or another. Personally, I would change to another brand if you're having problems with leakage from the Velcro closure system to one that's more suitable for you. I've been using Velcro for over 20 years and never had one leak from mine, even with loose output. I know we're all different in what works for us.

G-Day Hugo,

This photo should let you see where to glue the magnet. Regards IGGIE

G-Day Bob, the good thing about the IGGIE Clip is that when you take it off, the magnet lets you stick it on the fridge or any other metal surface so you don't lose it. When I empty my bag, I clip it to my shirt. I have also made a few so there is always one handy. Regards, IGGIE

I am too old to bother about patents, as long as our ostomates can get to use them. I am still happy if they do steal my idea, as long as they keep the name IGGIE CLIP. Regards, IGGIE

I use the IGGIE clip everyday.  After putting it on the bag, I just fold the clip arms down.  I have a colostomy, so don't get much balloning at the bag bottom.

For moments when I'm attempting to get frisky with Mrs B 😉.... I fold my Hollister bag upward, use 2 IGGIE clips, one on each side to secure the fold on both sides of the flange.  Holds it tight, keeps the output outta sight.
