Is it better to put the wafer/flange on diamond shape or regular square? I’ve seen on a lot of YouTube videos they say to put it on in the diamond shape.

Isn't a diamond just a square turned some?

Yes, is it better to turn the wafer into a diamond shape and then attach it to your stoma?

Don't know since I don't use that type of setup, but I'd imagine which way to set it would be dependent on your body style (like rolls, flat, creases, etc).

It depends on how you bend. If you do not have any irregularities in the area I do not see any difference. If you have a skin fold you have to see which is best to prevent any leaks.

Whichever way works best for you is the best way to put it on.......trial and error is the only way we learn as we're all different in what works for each one of us.

It's good to rotate between diamond and square to give your skin a break.

What Lee said. It's a good idea to change things up now and then to give the skin a break. I go as far as changing the brand of the appliance via free samples occasionally. So far so good!

Maybe if you could tell us what product your using so we can see a picture of it?

Never heard of this diamond vs square wafer application. It's usually just one way only in my experience. The bag is vertical so one can drain into the toilet.

So please tell us. Thanks

Mine is usually square. Once in a while, I'll orient 90 degrees, diamond.

Doesn't really make a difference for me.

If you are using a Hollister 2 piece set up you can put the flange on square or diamond. If you are using a Hollister 1 piece set up, which I use, and using the Hollister belt it needs to be applied square in order to attach the belt properly.

The flange is square, you can rotate it so it becomes a diamond shape.

G-Day Al, I always go square, but it's up to you. However, I do like Infinity's idea of rotating to help the skin. Good one. Regards, IGGIE

Hi Al, yes, the full pectin 4-inch square wafer is useful for that. If I'm bending down working on something, I occasionally get a sore spot by my hip, so I turn it to diamond. I've also cut the hole off-center to move the whole wafer over.

This is clearly referring to a two piece system, where the flange is separate from the pouch.  The flange can be rotated and applied any way the wearer wants.

Ah that makes sense, but obviously the flaw is in the design of the wafer flange to be square with pointed edges instead of more rounded design for better adhesion and less potential for peeling.

I suspect this is a way to avoid a copyright violation of another companies product.

Interesting.  I never thought of cutting the hole off center.  Thanks for sharing that.
