Hello everyone, I have had problems with my loop colostomy for over a year. I am now on a waiting list to close off the end to prevent blockages and poop coming out of my bottom. Can anyone advise what happens with this surgery?

Hi, I see this is your first post. Sorry, I can't advise. There are some here who have had the surgery that will jump in. Welcome.

Hi Debi - what surgery are you having? Are you being reconnected to your colon?

Hey Debz, sorry to hear you’ve been having a tough time. From what I know, they usually close off the lower end and fully divert everything through the stoma. Recovery can vary, but most people feel a lot better once it’s sorted. Wishing you a smooth surgery and a quick recovery!
