DOUCHE.

The douche has been a great device
for irrigating in a precise
way, usually using water to
cleanse ourselves of smell and goo.

Women have used douches, so they
can cleanse vaginas in a way
that leaves them feeling much more clean
than they might otherwise have been.

I used a rectal douche when I
was incontinent, whereby
I needed to be cleansed of shit
and this was what got rid of it.

When my stoma came along
I could not see anything wrong
with douching it to get it clean
for the sake of good hygiene.

We called it irrigation, and
for those who may not understand,
this was and is a great technique,
which has become, far from unique.

It’s so effective that I chose
to squirt some water up my nose
at times when it got blocked with snot
as hayfever was what I’d got.

Over the years, I’ve had no fears
in squirting water in my ears
to cleanse myself of earwax, which
would tend to block and make me itch.

Thus, douching can take many forms
and not always conform to norms
yet, nonetheless, it seems to be
effective to a large degree.

So I am guessing when a person calls another person the slang word douchebag, it means they want to flush them out of their lives, right? jb

Versification subjects seem

So limited for those who dream

Of topics less remarkable than

The pangs of love, the plight of man.

A poem can handle war or strife

Between a husband and a wife,

And – goodness – let’s not be obtuse,

It might be rhyme about a douche!

Hello JB.
Thanks for this comment, which had not occurred to me previously. I feel that your interpretation of 'douchbag' as a form of name-calling is possibly being kind to the caller. My interpretation would go along the lines of:  that caller is thinking that the object of the abuse is a heap of shit.
My theory about name calling (of this type) is that it is usually a form of bullying and probably reflects the caller's own personality, rather than being an accurate description of the person to whom it is aimed.

I was just thinking about the word douche... and douche bag.

Quite a few people still use it derogatorily. When you think about it, being a rinse with water, how does that reflect on the person it's aimed at?

"You're full of water?"

Never gave it that much thought, but personally, I'd rather call them a stoma bag.

More accurate.

Good point... but honestly, I doubt that... however, the intended person I would aim that at would be someone who knows I wear one.

Or someone I would think knows something about colostomy bags.

Funny how you think people get things. Had an eye-opening experience with "I.T.".

I assumed this gal I was speaking computer talk with was familiar with technology and the abbreviation I.T.

"Oh, you're an I.T. girl?" I asked.🤔

"I'm Jewish," she replied. 🤦‍♂️
