I have had an ileostomy since 1991 and have never had a problem with bags not adhereing to skin. I'm now using Coloplast Sensura and they WILL NOT stay on at ALL. Has any one else had problems. I have been happy with these bags but I think I'm fixing to go back to Hollister.  I use rolls of tape a month but the bag still leaks behind the wafter. I absolutely will not purchse these new Concave strips to hold bag on securely. I'm am very upset with this problem because it is occures daily with the leaking behind the wafer so I get the tape out and put on a new bag. My skin is also taking some abuse from all the changes. Anybody else. It helps to vent too. Thanks

Since you have been happy with the Coloplast product I would suggest you call to find out if anything has been changed on the product you wear.

Hi...dont know how much this will help but here are a few thoughts...I take it you are using the 2 part system..and an adhesive to help secure the plate and FILL IN AROUND THE STOMA .... by the way I have had an illio going on 3 years. I could easily afford to drop 30 lbs, so belly fat is an issue but i can get a full week out of a (Coloplast) base plate with rare leakage...maybe once every 2-3 months.... my initial thought is that it is very unlikly anything in the manufacture of the adhesive material has changed as these products are manufactured to pretty high standards and consistancy is vital to customer repeat use...however as we age so does our horomones, and as ladies know this can bring about many unexpected not so pleasant results during menapause...I expect your beyound that however you may be experiencing a changing in the PH of some bodily fluids which may be causing problems with your skin. For example you may be having a fungal infection etc. The skin must be itching alot...I think a trip to a dermatologist might shed some light on the issue. Also you might have changed the materials you use when you clean around the stoma between setups. A change in the water or even a change in a commericial wipe could have triggered a skin irritation...so I would look to a hormonal, pathalogical, environmental, or procedural change...which might be the trigger to you issue...best of luck Scotiaman

Hi there. I use the same system in conjunction with irrigation.  Because my stoma is oblong on the horizontal plane, when  the barrier starts to fail it's always on the left side.  Before I started irrigating I could get about 4 days from a barrier.  Now it's every other day but the payoff is way worth it.  Someone on this site suggested hitting the barrier with some hot air from the hair dryer for a few seconds to warm it up and I am going to try this.  But I have found the best wipes to be the Bard protective barrier wipes.  You should probably get some Stomahesive powder, too.   good luck.
