Stage 4 endometriosis excision surgery and a partial hysterectomy caused me to have a perforated bowel! My ovary had a large mass that has adhered to my bowel and moved it out of position! Got home from that 4 hour surgery and the next day my bowel perforated where it had been 'shaved' of endo!

Rushed back to hospital for emergency bowel surgery and started with septicemia, they stitched up my bowel but didn't think it would hold so I had a temp colostomy performed on top of the other surgery! Was in hospital a month and took me another 2 to recover! Had my reversal a week ago! Honestly, I was terrified after what I had been through! I was up the next day out of bed, walking, showering, eating! I required no painkillers after the initial surgery pain relief! It was slightly sore to move, but not excrutiating. Bowel started working on day 5 and I left hospital the next day! The hole is left open to heal from the inside and prevent abcess formation and pus!  It honestly was very straightforward, is generally a short operation and I have to say I'm so glad I did it! Hope this helps anyone worrying!

Hello Loop colostomy lady.

I have replied to your other post on this subject but I think it important ot include my reply here as well because posts tend to disappear after a while and people looking for particualr subjects then lose out on the correspondence.
I would just like to add my sincere thanks to you for posting such a positive outcome. So often people have the surgery, it goes well so they see no need to correspond on a site like this anymore. Thus we have an imbalance of posts that tend to indicate that things go wrong all or most of the time.

What we really need, is more posts such as yours, showing a brighter side to the prospects and proceedures.

Best wishes
Bill
