Hey all, 5 days past surgery and made an account today. Lots to figure out and come to terms with, but so good to see so many people chatting on here. Confidence is a bit shot but sure it will come back soon.

Pre-surgery I surfed and want to do that again. I'm also paralyzed and surfed lying down on my board. Just wondering if anyone has any tips or good advice?

I have had to change my bag because it was too thick. For a while, I had a lot of diarrhea, but it's back to its old self. Is your stoma sore?

First, I want to express my sincere gratitude to all for your responses to all of my posts over these last couple of weeks. This question is a follow-up to my other posts about stoma output and a possible blockage.

I've had a total of around 18" or so of end colon removed, starting just above the sigmoid. (2 surgeries, 13 years ago, the first one took 8" due to acute diverticulitis, just about 5 weeks ago, the second was emergency surgery to fix a complete bowel obstruction.)
Would I be able to safely use a regular enema bottle to irrigate and possibly help get things moving?

My ileostomy is 7 months old now. Are peppers something I can try eating now? If I can, do I need to chop them up really small?

Hi, I'm posting this on behalf of my son who's 12. He has a stoma and recently we've been struggling because he has a red, raw, very sore rash that covers the entire area of his stoma bag, to the point where some of the rash is weeping. I am new to this site and very new to Ostomy. My surgery was an emergency, and the placement of my Ostomy is right in the middle of a roll I have on my abdomen! I have been using wafer extensions. I am 3 weeks post-reversal. I have the entire colon reconnected as this was always temporary. Mine was a result of perforation.
