I just had parastomal hernia repair surgery. I was sore for about two weeks. It was worth it. Has anyone else had this surgery?

Hello hockey.

No! I haven't had the surgery, but I sure do appreciate knowing that yours went well. It will give me more confidence for when I finally decide thet something needs to be done about mine.

Best wishes

No, I wish I could avoid having more problems with my hernia, but I'm not expected to survive another abdominal surgery, so it's do or die surgery only.

Pleased to hear you're recovering well.

No, not yet, but we have what we think is that type of hernia. Did you have any issues with your output? It's starting to take 2 - 3 days before output. All is well then, but I have been used to once a day. Any comments or suggestions?

Bill,

Are you having any slow output issues, 2- 3 days?

Glad it went well for you and thanks for letting us know. I am sure this may be encouraging to some who may have the same problem.

Hi, I am pleased to hear it went well as I have 2 enormous parastomal  hernias, one is directly under my stoma and the other one is just beside it; I look pregnant! As I've had so much surgery I was advised to put up with them for as long as possible but they are really uncomfortable (not painful). Did you have them done by keyhole surgery?

Hockey, I had my very large hernia repair on Nov. 13, 2019, performed by two GI specialists. It required plastic surgery to remove about 8 pounds of scar tissue. I now have a very slim tummy tuck. I dropped two pant sizes. =)

Helo Daniel.

Yes, I have always had slow output issues, which have gradually become worse since the parastomal hernia has 'spread' across the outlet and blocked the hole. I feel reluctant to have more surgery because outcomes have seemed so unpredictable.

Best wishes
