Hi gang,

Just a friendly reminder to not wait until the last few days of the calendar year to get your last ostomy supply order in. I get my supplies quarterly (every three months), per my insurance company. By this time of the year I've usually paid my maximum out of pocket requirement.....so my last ostomy supply order is totally on the insurance company. Last year I waited too long and tried to put my order in a few days before the New Year. But stupid me forgot to check to see if the script my Doc sent to the ostomy supply company had any refills left on it. So I call to reorder my 3 month supply and am told there are no refills left on the prescription......so they'd have to contact my Doc to get a new one. Have you ever tried to get your Doc's attention during the week between Christmas and New Years? Most of them are either out on their 40 ft yachts or at their winter home in Cancun......so the poor resident on call ends up having to figure out how to get the prescription. Long story short......the ostomy supply company got my new prescription on Jan 2.......and I had to pay a lot more for my stomy supplies because a new calendar year started the day before. So check your refills and order your supplies in time......don't be a dum-dum like me and wait too long.

Regards,

Bob

Hello Bob.

Thanks for this reminder and I would like to add that FOR ALL THOSE IN THE UK, THIS ADVICE IS ESPECIALLY IMPORTANT THIS YEAR AS WE ARE ABOUT TO HAVE PROBLEMS WITH IMPORTS FROM THE EU.

Many/most of our medical supplies come from the EU and because we are severing our ties with them, from 31/12/20 it is doubtful we will be able to rely on imports in the same way that we did when we were part of the European Union.

PS: For all those who voted to leave the EU: It is both unfair and a self-delusional process to 'blame' the EU for our upcoming problems. These are entirely down to the misguided/misinformed decisions made by those who deluded themselves into thinking we would be 'better-off' as an independent nation. Something those same people now wish to deny to the Scottish nation. Does that make sense?

Best wishes

Bill
