Hi Arvi1. I'm just guessing that your fungal problem is with the skin next to the stoma. The Nistatin should get rid of it. I don't think the stoma is as susceptible to those infections and, therefore, shouldn't need medication. I would feel much better if you asked a WOCN or some other health professional.

Please let us know how you make out.

I use Nystatin cream around where the skin and stoma meet. I have not had a problem with it touching the edge of the stoma. Best wishes and stay safe.

Hi arvi,

I use the Nystatin liquid every time I change my barrier, which is every other day.  I slather it all over the place, including my stoma, and it doesn't affect it at all.  Of course your mileage may vary, so try it in a small spot first.......but I don't think you'll have any problem.

bob

Hi,   I'm Marsha,   I've never used nystatin on my stoma, but have used bacitracin for mild irritation,  or when the skin gets damaged.   But some meds impede the wafer from sticking..   I've " Patched" the skin,   put on medication, then stoma powder ( which has healing properties, covered by tape, and then covering the patch with the wafer.   It may not wear as long, but the medication under the "  patch" usually heals the irritation..

Good Luck

Marsha
