Hi Margie - there was a really good article in the Phoenix magazine this time about life after ostomy surgery.  In the article was a reference to:

Black, P.K.  (2000)  Holistic Stoma Care.  London: Harcourt Publishers Ltd.

Hello Margie,

I had my stoma formed about 10 years ago, and I expect things have moved on, but I learned everything I needed to know from my stoma nurse, and the MacMillan people, and a recovering ostomate who used to come round from the British Colostomy Association, as it then was. You'll find all of those sources endlessly helpful and understanding.

Some of the mags you'll receive in the post, such as Tidings, can be very helpful too, if only to make you count your blessings after readings the trials and tribulations of others in your situation!

   with kind regards,

Hello Margie,

it's Phil again, just letting you know I'm not in San Diego, as whoever's in charge would have you believe; I'm in Cornwall, UK, hence the references to McMillan nurses, Tidings etc.

   Bye,

I just downloaded two books to my Kindle: Living Well with an Ostomy by Elizabeth Rayson and The Ostomy Book: Living Comfortably with Colostomies and Illeostomies by Barbara Dorr Mullen and Kerry Anne McGinn.  I haven't read either of them yet, but thought they would be useful to have on hand.
