Hi everyone! I posted I was having major leaking issues - so many helpful suggestions! I finally got into the ostomy clinic and the nurse showed me some tips that appear to be working! (I say appear because the nurse was hands-on - I haven't tried it yet myself).

Anyway, I go to see the nurse at 1:50 - I have an appointment before that which ends at noon. I'm afraid to eat in between visits - but I don't want to be nauseous.

I've heard marshmallows 15 mins before a bag change helps - but does that include if you've eaten?

Thanks for any help!

Just eat your normal stuff. You control your stoma/life; don't let your stoma control it.

I've eaten during ostomy nurse visits before 😁. If you're really concerned, you can eat the potato chips or marshmallow. The nurses are prepared for your stoma not to behave, and they know your appointment is in the afternoon, so they'll assume you've eaten. Hope this visit is helpful for you!

You should not need to modify your diet. However, if you know there will be ostomy function at a certain time following eating, then there will be fewer issues if you eat after your visit.
