ON ONE POST, the person said the alea vera plant itself, opened leaf, was good for bad skin around stoma. My qustion is how long must one keep the plant on skin for it to have an effect. I am afraid if I keep it too long, feces will come out.  Thanks for any information on this. Gil

I've never used Aloe Vera but have used other creams. I usually leave the cream on for 5 minutes, sometimes longer

I cover my stoma with a piece piece of paper towel to catch any poo that may spurt out.  I keep small pieces of paper towel handy - so when one gets soiled I replace it with another.

Some folks use gauze or toilet paper.

Good luck - hope this helps.

Hello! ...yes..... I still use the old healing plant for many uses but if you have sore irritated skin around your stoma, when your stoma seems a bit more settled and it's time for a change of pouch or if you just need some relief, wait for the output time to slow down or stop for a bit and get that pouch off..... gently wash an dab your tender skin completely clean WITHOUT using any soap, only tissue paper and a warm wet washcloth.....then pat it dry.... have ready a leaf snip from an Aloe Vera plant that has been sliced open to reveal the somewhat gooy juice inside and take that opened slice of plant, gooey side down, and gently rub the plant juice over the irritated skin area and wave it dry on it's own.....DO NOT wash it off, just allow it to dry.... it actually will not disturb most tapes or pouches from sticking...but leave it air dry before applying pouch which does not take long.

Do not use Aloe Vera juice for this method bought in the store.....use only straight from plant.

That plant is long Tradionally known for it's healing purposes and often also used as poultaces with the opened leaves left on wounds then gause wrapped around it to hold it on.....but not in this case.

I hope this helps....... I'm not sure which post you saw..... as far as I am aware I am the only one that has made a post like that in the past but I am uncertain......at any rate please do take care :)
