Just a question. I was wondering how long your supplies last and what kind of appliance is it.

I started irrigating so I am most interested in those supplies but all other pouches and products as well.

I ordered and received an irrigation kit. It had many things in it but some seem they would last for long term and others will be gone. Ex. The bag and tubing you fill with water. Long term? There is one sleeve. Long term? How long? Not as long as the water bag. Then there is a clip! DO NOT USE this. It is useless. I know and spend a great deal of time cleaning up the floor then there are two closed pouches and one flange. Short term right. Then there is the cone. Long or short term? I used he first one only a little over a week because it yellowed and looked nasty even after cleaning it. The yellow stays. How long do you use a cone? I am kinda thinking the kit is ill proportional to the supplies inside. I do like the bags they come I . Will repurpose those to give hygiene supplies to the homeless at Christmas! Please comment on your experience.

I get mine from the VA.  I base it on changing it out completely every 4 days.  I use the Holistic two piece wafer and bag.  Since my stoma is very small, approximately 7/8 of an inch, I am fortunate to be able to use a Pre set size.  I also use the wax ring rather than the paste.  It is so much easier to use.  I hope things go well for you.

Thinking of trying to learn irrigation but kind of scared. Those of you who do irrigation, can you explain and give me pros and cons? Thought is would help avoid leakage i get once in a while when pasty waste blocks hole in bad and ends up leaking out under the adhesive ring and irritating skin im missing the end of xolon and nornally wear closed one piece bags.

Hi LLES,

there is nothing but pros with irrigating! You may want to use a two piece pouch system. They are so much better! You can keep the flange on for many days (6 for me) while just changing the pouch more often. My flange never comes off or leaks but the barrier ring around the stoma gets pasty with so much water around it from irrigating! I have found ifntou use order the kit, Do  it use that clip in there for the bottom of the irrigation bag. It does not hold and you will be cleaning up a mess! I bought clothes pins and use three of them once I fold several times. Go in U tube and watch video of irrigation. It will lead you through the whole process and watchnit several times or several different people doing it. It helps a lot!
